Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao (1997)

A museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, and located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. Titan, sandstone and glass - the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao opened in 1997 after only four years of construction. The museum on the banks of the Nervion River has become the Basque city's landmark, drawing 20 million visitors to what was once a decrepit city

Hagia Sophia, Istanbul (537 AD)

Hagia Sophia, officially the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque and formerly the Church of Hagia Sophia, is a Late Antique place of worship in Istanbul. It served as a center of religious, political, and artistic life for the Byzantine world and has provided us with many useful scholarly insights into the period. It was also an important site of Muslim worship after Sultan Mehmed II conquered Constantinople in 1453 and designated the structure a mosque.

Villa Savoye, Poissy (1929)

Villa Savoye is a modernist villa in Poissy, on the outskirts of Paris, France. It was designed by the Swiss architects Le Corbusier and his cousin, Pierre Jeanneret and built between 1928 and 1931 using reinforced concrete. It is a revolutionary building because it was designed to be functional and to revolve around people's daily lives. With its systematic efficiency, lack of ornamentation, and clean lines, the Villa Savoye exemplifies Purism and Le Corbusier's desire to simplify design.
